CLEAN IN LA PAZ

MOTORSAILED INTO LA PAZ ON FRIDAY TO PALMIRA MARINA WE NOW HAVE A SQUEEKY CLEAN BOAT, SOME CLEAN LAUNDRY AND ENJOYED A WARM SHOWER. DOING DISHES IN HOT WATER THIS MORNING GAVE ME A COMFORTABLE FEELING LIKE I HAD COME HOME AFTER CAMPING FOR A FEW WEEKS THE DIFFERENCE BEING WE ARE ALWAYS ‘HOME’. I NOW HAVE THAT FEELING INSIDE, I AM REALLY HOME.THE FAMILIARITY OF OUR BOAT, KNOWING IT’S NEEDS AND SYSTEMS EASES THE ANXIETY OF COMING TO A NEW PORT OR ANCHORAGE. CONNECTING WITH FRIENDS MADE WHILE CRUISING THESE PAST FEW MONTHS, CONNECTING WITH FAMILY THROUGH THE PHONE AND HEARING THEIR LOVING VOICES TELL ABOUT LIFE HAPPENINGS BACK IN THE STATES, HEARING THE MUSIC FROM OTHER BOATS WHILE SITTING HERE COMPOSING SOMETHING FOR THE BLOG-I LOVE THIS LIFE. I HAVE FELT A SADNESS IN LEAVING CERTAIN ANCHORAGES KNOWING THAT OUR NEWEST ‘FRIENDS’ WERE NOT LEAVING WITH US AND HAVING A FEAR THAT A CONNECTION WAS LOST. FINDING OUR FRIENDS FROM SEATTLE TOTALLY BY ACCIDENT ON THE BEACH AT ENSENADA DE LOS MUERTOS WHOM WE HADN’T SEEN SINCE SAN DIEGO HAS DISSAPATED THAT FEAR. I NOW HAVE THE COMFORT OF LETTING THE NATURAL EB AND FLOW OF THE CRUISING LIFE TAKE IT’S COURSE, AND I KNOW THAT WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT WE WILL MAKE ANOTHER CONNECTION, EITHER WITH OLD FRIENDS OR BY MAKING NEW FRIENDS.
LA PAZ IS VERY WELCOMING, THE TOWN IS ABOUT 3 MILES AWAY BUT THERE IS A SHUTTLE WHICH GOES ABOUT 3 TIMES PER DAY FOR THE MARINA. LAST NIGHT LARRY AND I WENT TO A RESTAURANT AND HAD SOME VERY GOOD MEXICAN FOOD, WELL HE ACTUALLY HAD A STEAK-BUT IT IS ALL MEXICAN FOOD NOW RIGHT? I FEEL THAT I AM REALLY IN MEXICO NOW, EXCEPT FOR THE ENGLISH MUSIC BLASTING FROM OUR NEIGHBOR, THE TOWN HAS THAT TRADITIONAL FEEL, AND THE PEOPLE IN TOWN DON’T READILY SPEAK ENGLISH AND WILL CONTINUE TO LET ME STRUGGLE SPEAKING MY SPANISH UNTIL WE HAVE AN UNDERSTANDING. THE WEATHER HERE IS WHAT I WOULD CALL PERFECT, SUNNY AND WARM BUT COOL IN THE SHADE AND COOL ENOUGH IN THE NIGHT TO MAKE WEARING SOME CLOTHES OTHER THAN SHORTS AND A T-SHIRT COMFORTABLE. ANDREW AND BRIDGETTE TOOK OFF AFTER CONNECTING WITH FRIENDS AND ARE NOW RECOVERING FROM THEIR FUN NIGHT BY NAPPING. LARRY AND I HAD AN EARLY NIGHT AND A NICE WALK BACK TO THE MARINA FROM TOWN. WE CHOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THE LOCAL FRIDAY NIGHT CELEBRATION AND JUST ENJOY THE EVENING FROM THE BOAT.
I HAVE DISCOVERED THE VIDEO SETTING ON MY CAMERA. AFTER ANTONIO WAS HERE WE WATCHED SOME OF HIS VIDEOS AND REALIZED THEY WERE AWESOME SO NOW I AM HOOKED. MY DAD REMINDED ME NOT TO SPEND ALL MY LIFE TAKING VIDEO, THANKS DAD IT IS SUCH A GREAT THING TO REALLY CAPTURE THE MOMENT, ESPECIALLY THE DOLPHINS PLAYING AT THE BOW OF THE BOAT ON OUR WAY TO LA PAZ, BRIDGETTE WILL HAVE A MEMORY AND NOW BE ABLE TO SHOW THE VIDEO TO HER FRIENDS. I AM SO HAPPY THAT THIS CAMERA RECOVERED FROM IT’S MISHAP EARLY ON IN OUR CRUISE SINCE I AM NOT ABLE TO REPLACE IT.
ANDREW CAUGHT HIS FIRST FISH YESTERDAY, A NICE DORADO THAT IS NOW IN THE FRIDGE WAITING FOR US TO PERPARE IT. I AM SO ENJOYING ALL THE FRESH FISH I DON’T THINK THERE IS A CHANCE OF ME TIRING OF IT, I WOULD LIKE TO GET A LARGER VARIETY OF NEW RECIPES SO ANYONE WITH A GOOD FISH RECIPE SEND IT ON.
SHOPPING IS THE BIG THING THAT I AM GOING TO DO TODAY AND TOMORROW WITH BRIDGETTE, SINCE WE HELD OFF IN CABO IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL TRIPSWE HAVE ACTUALLY RUN OUT OF STAPLES LIKE FRESH FRUIT AND VEGES, EGGS AND MILK, A FIRST SINCE THE STATES. I STILL HAVE BIRTHDAY PRESENT SHOPPING TO DO FOR MY GRANDAUGHTER GABBY-SHE WILL LOVE GETTING A PACKAGE IN THE MAIL, I AM HOPING SHE WILL FORGIVE ME FOR BEING LATE!
THE BIKES HAVE SURVIVED THE PAST MONTH VERY WELL IN THE ‘DRY BAG’ THAT I MADE, ANDREW PUT HIS TOGETHER YESTERDAY AND IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION-I WILL PUT MINE TOGETHER TODAY AS WALKING 3 MILES EACH WAY AND THEN WALKING IN TOWN WITH HEAVY BAGS WILL BE EASIER ON WHEELS. IT’S A GREAT DAY IN PARADICE AND I AM OFF TO ENJOY SOME OTHER ASPECT NOW.
ADIOS FOR NOW, VICKI
